  • PISCATAWAY, N.J. (October 11, 2012) – The Rutgers women’s soccer team (9-6-1, 2-5-1) will play its final two home games of the regular season this weekend, when the Scarlet Knights square off with Louisville and Cincinnati.

RU faces Louisville on Friday night at 5:30 p.m. in the first of two matches at Yurcak Field, as the men’s squad will take on DePaul at 8 p.m. The team closes its home season on Sunday at 1 p.m., when the squad will honor its five seniors for Senior Day against Cincinnati.

Against UofL, RU will host its annual “Pink Game,” donning all pink uniforms in support of breast cancer research. The team will also honor former Rutgers standout Carli Lloyd, who guided the U.S. women’s national team to a gold medal in the 2012 Olympics.

The squad enters its matchup with Louisville (8-3-3, 3-2-3) after tying No. 24 Notre Dame, 2-2, last Sunday. Sophomore Stephanie Scholz (South Hackensack, N.J.) and redshirt senior Shannon Woeller (Vancouver, Canada) each scored goals for the Scarlet Knights, as redshirt senior goalkeeper Emmy Simpkins (Concord, N.C.) made eight saves.

RU closes its home schedule with Cincinnati (4-10-1, 1-7) on Sunday. Prior to kickoff, the Scarlet Knights will honor seniors Tricia DiPaolo (Sparta, N.J.), April Price (Mechanicsville, Va.), Maura McLaughlin (Robbinsville, N.J.), Simpkins and Woeller.

Louisville is unbeaten in its last three matches and heads to Piscataway fresh off a 1-1 tie against No. 11 Georgetown. Junior Angelika Uremovich paces the Cardinals with nine goals this season, as Coral Charlyn owns five scores – including two in the past three matches.

The Bearcats are currently on a five-game losing skid and have been held scoreless in each of their last three matches. UC is led by freshman Laura Rose with 11 points on five goals and one assist this season. Between the pipes for Cincinnati will be Kristina Utley, who owns a 1.85 GAA with 95 saves in 2012.
