PISCATAWAY, N.J. (September 4, 2012) – The Rutgers women’s soccer team ranks No. 21 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Poll, the organization announced Tuesday.
After starting the season unranked, the Scarlet Knights rose as high as No. 16 last week in the coaches’ poll before sitting at No. 21 after a 1-1 weekend.
RU received offensive output from three different Scarlet Knights this weekend, all scoring their first career goals. Redshirt freshman Amanda DeVolk (Frisco, Texas) gave Rutgers an early 1-0 lead over Texas A&M on Friday night. Freshman Rachel Cole (Teaneck, N.J.) and junior Brielle Buis (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) each scored in the 2-0 win over Sam Houston State on Sunday.
Rutgers returns to Yurcak Field on Friday, Sept. 7 for a matchup against Stony Brook at 7 p.m. The Scarlet Knights face Dartmouth on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 4:30 p.m. to wrap up nonconference play.
