PISCATAWAY, N.J. (August 29, 2012) – No. 16 Rutgers women’s soccer heads to College Station, Texas over the weekend to take on No. 17 Texas A&M and Sam Houston State at Ellis Field. The match against TAMU is set for 8 p.m. ET on Friday, Aug. 31. RU and SHSU will meet Sunday, Aug. 31 at 11:30 a.m. ET.

Friday’s match will be streamed live on 12thMan.TV via www.AggieAthletics.com. The cost of a day pass is $9.95.

Starting the season 4-0 for the first time since 2007, Rutgers jumped to No. 16 in the NSCAA rankings this week. This marked the first four-game win streak since Oct. 11-23, 2009.

Redshirt junior forward Jonelle Filigno (Mississauga, ON, Canada) was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for the second-straight time Monday. The forward scored both goals in the 2-1 win over Bucknell on Friday. Filigno ranks first in the BIG EAST in goals (five), points (10) and game-winning goals (three).

Led by a strong defensive effort, the Scarlet Knights have allowed just one goal through four matches. Senior Shannon Woeller (Vancouver, Canada) leads the charge, having played every minute at center back this season.

Rutgers holds a 1-0 all-time series lead against Texas A&M. The last match took place on Oct. 6, 1989, when RU downed the TAMU by a 9-0 margin.

The Aggies come into Friday’s match with a 2-1 record. On the season, four Aggies have scored one goal apiece, including MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List honoree Kelley Monogue. In the net for TAMU will be sophomore Jordan Day, who has allowed two goals through three games.

Sunday’s match will mark the first meeting between Rutgers and Sam Houston State.

The Kats (2-2) enter the weekend coming off back-to-back overtime matches. Ashley Alozo and Tricia Mallory have each scored one goal for the Bearkats. Senior Michele McCullough and freshman Kylie Hambleton will split time between the pipes. McCullough owns a 0.45 GAA with 12 saves.
