PISCATAWAY, N.J. (August 22, 2012) – The Rutgers women’s soccer team provided a free clinic to the Jackson Soccer Club recently in exchange for school supplies needed by children in Middlesex County. Nearly 1,000 school supplies were collected and will be donated by the Scarlet Knights once public schools start classes.
“It was one of the most exciting and well-attended events we've ever held,” said Dave DeLorenzo, president of the Jackson Soccer Club. “The Rutgers players and staff provided an energetic night of fun soccer skills. The kids had an awesome, memorable time and provided a van full of school supplies for needy kids. I think everybody walked away winners. I'm sure this will be the beginning of a long-term relationship.”
The Scarlet Knights, who have taken a proactive approach to civic responsibility under head coach Glenn Crooks, had 16 teams and 200 players participate in the clinic.
