  • PISCATAWAY, N.J. (August 21, 2012) – The Rutgers women’s soccer team earned a No. 23 ranking in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Poll this week after starting the season with wins over Monmouth and Ohio State, the organization announced Tuesday.

This marks the first time since Sept. 14, 2010 (No. 24) that the Scarlet Knights (2-0) have entered into the NSCAA Poll.

RU was paced by redshirt junior Jonelle Filigno (Mississauga, ON, Canada), who was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week Monday after scoring three goals, including two game winners, over the weekend. Redshirt senior Shannon Woeller (Vancouver, Canada) led the defensive charge, as the Scarlet Knights played 191 minutes of shutout soccer. For her defensive efforts, Woeller was named to the league honor roll.

Rutgers will be back in action on Yurcak Field this weekend. RU takes on Bucknell on Friday, Aug. 24 at 5:30 p.m. and Siena on Sunday, Aug. 26 at 1 p.m.
