Rutgers Women’s Soccer Falls to La Salle in Exhibition

  • PISCATAWAY, N.J. (August 11, 2012) – Rutgers women’s soccer dropped a 2-0 decision to La Salle in an exhibition Saturday night at Yurcak Field.  

    In the 35th minute, Kerri Aiken put La Salle on the board, rebounding a shot off the post from Courtney Niemiec. Redshirt senior Emmy Simpkins (Concord, N.C.) made a diving attempt to her right, but Aiken put the ball in the top corner of the net.

    Diana Allen put the Explorers up 2-0 in the 43rd minute, placing a foot on a low Niemiec pass across the box.

    The two teams played three 30 minute halves in preparation for the regular season. Redshirt junior Jessica Janosz (Ringwood, N.J.) made two saves in net over 45 minutes of play. RU and La Salle equaled shots for the night (10 apiece).

    Redshirt freshman Amanda DeVolk (Frisco, Texas) tallied two shots, including one on frame.

    The Scarlet Knights begin the regular season Friday, Aug. 17 at Monmouth. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on The Great Lawn.
