London (August 6, 2012) – Former Rutgers women’s soccer standout Carli Lloyd and the U.S. women’s national team defeated RU forward Jonelle Filigno (Mississauga, ON, Canada) and Team Canada, 4-3, in the 123rd minute of the 2012 Olympic semifinals. USA will advance to face Japan in the gold medal game, while Canada will try for bronze against France.
USA and Japan square off in the rematch of the 2011 FIFA World Cup on Thursday, Aug. 9 at 2:45 p.m. ET. Canada and France play Thursday at 8:00 a.m. ET. Both matches will be televised on NBC Sports Network.
In the starting lineup for the fourth-straight contest, Lloyd played the full 123 minutes for the U.S. Filigno also earned the nod, playing 67 minutes for Canada.
