London (August 3, 2012) – Rutgers women’s soccer forward Jonelle Filigno (Mississauga, ON, Canada) and former All-American Carli Lloyd will meet in the semifinal round of the 2012 Olympics on Monday, August 6 at 2:45 p.m. ET. The match between Canada and the U.S. will be televised on NBC Sports Network.
In the starting lineup for the third-straight contest, Lloyd and Team USA defeated New Zealand 2-0 to earn a spot in the semifinals. In her first start of the Olympics for Canada, Filigno scored in the 12th minute to provide the game winner in a 2-0 victory over host Great Britain on Friday.
This will be the second-straight Olympics where the U.S. and Canada will meet. In 2008, USA defeated their neighbors to the north 2-1 in the quarterfinals.
