    London (July 25, 2012) – Former Rutgers women’s soccer All-American Carli Lloyd scored the game winner for the U.S. Women’s National Team Wednesday in the squad’s opening round win over France.

    Lloyd sent a 25-yard rocket from the right side into the net in the 56th minute. Coming off the bench, her score put USA up 3-2 with 32 minutes to play. Alex Morgan scored the final goal in the 66th minute to give USA a final 4-2 winning margin over France. 

    In her international career, Lloyd has more than 135 caps with 37 goals. Lloyd remains RU’s all-time points (117) and goals (50) leader and was the 2008 U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year.
