PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers men’s soccer team (1-0) is ranked 11th in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll released on Monday.
The ranking is the first for Rutgers this season. It comes on the heels of a season-opening 3-2 overtime victory at No. 25 William & Mary on Saturday.
Rutgers is one of five BIG EAST schools to be recognized in this week’s rankings. Joining Rutgers is Notre Dame (9), Seton Hall (T19), St. John’s (T19) and Connecticut (24).
The NSCAA ranking is the first for Rutgers since the week of Oct. 7-13, of the 2002 season when the Scarlet Knights were ranked 14th.
Rutgers will face Providence on Saturday, Sept. 6, at 7 p.m. in the season’s home-opener at Yurcak Field.
