Friday night’s action features three nationally-ranked teams. The 6:00 p.m. opening match features No. 1 St. John’s and Old Dominion, while the nightcap featured 13th-ranked Rutgers and #16 UCLA.
“With the help of Al Sinclair, President of the New Jersey Youth Soccer Association, we were able to put this event together,” said head coach Bob Reasso. “The kids playing youth soccer in New Jersey are a huge part of our fan base and represent the future of collegiate soccer. The majority of our players received their start in youth programs in New Jersey and it is always nice to welcome back old friends.”
In order to receive free admission, teams are asked to fax a copy of their schedule to the men’s soccer office at 732-445-5589. Questions can be directed to the office at 732-445-4206. During halftime of the Rutgers/UCLA match, all regional championships in attendance will be honored.
The Philips/adidas Soccer Classic, now in its 17th season, annually showcases four of the nation’s top teams and this year is no exception. The two-day tournament will conclude on Sunday, with St. John’s/UCLA at 1:00 p.m. and Rutgers/ODU at 3:00 p.m.
