  • PISCATAWAY, NJ – Longtime Rutgers assistant men’s soccer coach Pedro Lopes has been named head coach at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). He is the sixth head coach in the program’s history.

    A member of the Rutgers coaching staff for the past six seasons, Lopes was an All-American at Rutgers in 1993 and 1994, earning Atlantic 10 Player of the Year honors as a senior in 1994, when he guided the Scarlet Knights to the National semifinals as the starting sweeper. Rutgers won four A-10 championships and advanced to the 1990 championship game and 1994 semifinals with Lopes in the starting lineup.
