PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers University senior and Major League Soccer player Josh Gros (Mechanicsburg, PA) is currently featured on the website of DC United, the club he currently plays for.
Gros has had a busy couple of months following his standout season on the soccer field for the Scarlet Knights this past fall. After being selected in the MLS SuperDraft with DC United’s third pick in January, Gros has shined for the club and made his professional debut in the 85th minute of United’s season opener on April 3 against the defending MLS Cup Champion San Jose Earthquakes, preserving the club’s 2-1 victory.
Gros made his first start in DC United’s second game of the season against Los Angeles last Saturday, making him just the third draftee to start an MLS game this season. Gros was back to his old tricks as the 2003 BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year and NSCAA All-American assisted Ronald Cerrito on the team’s only goal of the match as DC ended with a 1-1 tie. He became the first draftee to score a point this season.
Rutgers fans can see Gros in person when DC United travels to East Rutherford, NJ, to play the MetroStars this Saturday at 4 p.m. inside Giants Stadium.
