PISCATAWAY, N.J. (September 17, 2013) – Adding to weekly awards by the American Athletic Conference (AAC), College Soccer News and the NSCAA, Rutgers sophomore midfielder Mael Corboz (Green Brook, N.J.) was named Top Drawer Soccer’s Player of the Week.
Corboz helped the Rutgers men’s soccer team to two wins last week as he captured a trio of goals and a pair of assists against Princeton and South Carolina.
The sophomore midfielder netted a pair of goals in RU’s 3-2 win over in-state rival Princeton last Friday, marking the second straight year he has scored twice against the Tigers. He followed by scoring the game-winner on Sunday against the Gamecocks and assisting on the other two Scarlet Knights tallies in the 3-0 shutout..
On the season, Corboz has a team-leading five goals, two assists and 12 points. The Scarlet Knight currently leads the AAC in points and ranks second in goals.
The Rutgers men’s soccer team (3-2-1) opens up conference action and closes out its five game homestand on Friday at 8 p.m. against SMU.
