  • PISCATAWAY, N.J. (September 17, 2013) – Rutgers sophomore midfielder Mael Corboz (Green Brook, N.J.) was named the Division I Disney Soccer/NSCAA Player of the Week for Sept. 9-16, it was announced Tuesday.

Corboz, who earlier this week was named the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Offensive Player of the Week and earned a spot on College Soccer News’  National Team of the Week, captured a trio of goals and a pair of assists in RU’s 2-0 week.

Corboz found the back of the net twice in the 3-2 Scarlet Knight win over Princeton last Friday night.  It was the second straight year he has scored twice against the Tigers.  Corboz followed with the game-winning goal and assists on the other two Scarlet Knight tallies in the 3-0 shutout of South Carolina last Sunday afternoon.

On the season, Corboz has a team-leading five goals, two assists and 12 points.  The Scarlet Knight currently leads the AAC in points and ranks second in goals.

The Rutgers men’s soccer team (3-2-1) opens up conference action and closes out its five game homestand on Friday at 8 p.m. against SMU.
