Former NSCAA Assistant Coach of the Year Begins Fourth Season with RU Soccer

    PISCATAWAY, N.J. (August 14, 2013) – Rutgers men’s soccer has elevated Dave Beck to Associate Head Coach it was announced today by Scarlet Knight head coach Dan Donigan.

    “I have had the great fortune of working with some great coaches over the years and Dave has proven he is one of the very best.   For over three years here at Rutgers and during our time at Saint Louis, he has done a fantastic job,” said Donigan.  “His work ethic, dedication, knowledge of the game and day-to-day management of the program is tremendous. I am very privileged to have Dave be a part of a coaching and support staff that understands all aspects of running a nationally prominent program”

    Beck, who begins his fourth year as a member of the RU coaching staff, was named the NSCAA Assistant Coach of the Year for the Northeast Region after helping the Scarlet Knights to a Sweet 16 NCAA Tournament appearance in 2011 and has been involved in constructing an incoming freshman recruiting class that has been ranked as high as No. 22 in the country by Top Drawer Soccer.

    Prior to arriving at Rutgers, Beck spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Saint Louis as the Billikens amassed 52 wins and enjoyed four-straight NCAA Tournament appearances.  He consistently put together nationally ranked recruiting classes, including a 12-member class ranked among the top 10 by Soccer America in 2009.

    Beck came to Saint Louis after spending six seasons on the coaching staff at NAIA power Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo. The Lions won the 2004 NAIA National Championship and qualified for the NAIA Tournament for five consecutive years spanning 2000-05.

    In all, Beck has coached four All-Americans, including a freshman All-American at Rutgers, and six student-athletes who went on to be drafted by Major League Soccer.

    Prior to joining the coaching ranks, Beck played two years at Florissant Valley Community College before transferring to Lindenwood to complete his collegiate career. He played professionally in 1999 for the St. Louis Ambush of the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL).
