PISCATAWAY, N.J. (July 3, 2013) – Catch up with former Scarlet Knights Nick LaBrocca, Dilly Duka and Peter Vermes and their 2013 MLS seasons.
Nick LaBrocca – Colorado Rapids – LaBrocca has started in seven of his 11 appearances with the Rapids, including starts against Montreal and Portland in the final two games of June. He played 62 minutes in the 3-0 loss to Portland on June 23rd. Against the Timbers, LaBrocca had the Rapids best chance at thwarting the shutout with a shot on net in the game’s 58th minute. Teammate Deshorn Brown beat a Portland defender to the corner of the pitch to send a cross to the former Scarlet Knight. Unfortunately, LaBrocca’s shot on an open net was cleared by a Timber defender. LaBrocca also played 74 minutes in Colorado’s 4-3 victory over Montreal on June 29th. The victory over the Eastern Conference leading Impact snapped a four-game winless streak for the Rapids.
Colorado currently stands at 6-7-5 overall having gone1-3-1 in the month of June. The Rapids sit in sixth place in the Western Conference and are just one point out of playoff contention. Colorado will be at home in three of their five July match-ups and also travel to the University of New Mexico for a friendly with Santos Laguna from Mexico.

Dilly Duka – Chicago Fire – Duka continued to be a regular in the Fire’s starting line-up throughout the month of June. He played all 90 minutes of Chicago’s contests with Colorado on June 19th and Columbus on June 22nd, both victories. Against the Columbus, Duka captured six shots, including four on goal. With Chicago down 1-0 early against Crew, Duka netted his third career goal and first of in a Chicago Fire uniform in the game’s 52nd minute as the Fire went on to a 2-1 victory.
Chicago currently stands at 5-7-2 overall and went 4-1-1 in the month of June. The Fire’s match-up with Sporting KC, featuring manager and former Scarlet Knight Peter Vermes, on July 7th will air on ESPN at 3:00 p.m. EST. Additionally, Chicago will take on Club America of Mexico in a friendly on ESPN2 on July 10th at 8:30 p.m.

Peter Vermes – Sporting Kansas City – Vermes, in his fifth year as manager and seventh season technical director, has helped to lead his squad to 7-5-5 overall mark this season. Kansas City, which went 1-2-1 in June, is tied with Philadelphia for third place in the Eastern Conference and is just two points out of second place in the standings.
Kansas City’s match-up with Dilly Duka’s Chicago Fire on July 7th will air on ESPN at 3:00 p.m. EST.
