HOLMDEL, N.J. (June 7, 2013) – Members of the Rutgers men’s soccer team and coaching staff teamed up with the Holmdel School District and Special Olympics New Jersey in holding the First Holmdel Special Olympics Sports Expo for special needs children at Cross Farms Park.
Students from Holmdel, Colts Neck, Keansburg, Middletown and Upper Freehold School Districts were invited to participate in the event as the Scarlet Knights joined forces with Monmouth, Brookdale and Fairleigh Dickinson in helping the children not only hone their soccer skills, but make new friends as well.
"It's always a very rewarding experience anytime we step into the community, especially interacting with some great kids and great people,” said head men’s soccer coach Dan Donigan. “This event was a lot of fun and we hope everyone there had as much of a great time as we did. We are hopeful the Holmdel School District will make this into an annual event that I know our guys would be fortunate to be a part of.”
