Midfielder Nick LaBrocca has signed with the Colorado Rapids.

PISCATAWAY, N.J.  (February 4, 2013) – Two former Rutgers men’s soccer standouts will be donning new MLS uniforms heading into the 2013 season.  Midfielder Nick LaBrocca has signed with the Colorado Rapids and midfielder Dilly Duka has been traded to the Chicago Fire.

LaBrocca was originally drafted by the Rapids with the 35th overall selection in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft.  After playing two first-team matches with Colorado in his first year, while also leading the club to the Reserve Division championship, he became a regular starter over the next two seasons.  LaBrocca played 30 games in 2008 and 29 in 2009, before a 2010 trade to Toronto FC.  He moved to Chivas USA in 2011 where he was named to the MLS All-Star Team.  During the 2011 season, LaBrocca playedall 34 games and scored eight goals en-route to earning the Chivas USA Golden Boot Award for being the team’s top-scorer.  In 2012, he notched a pair of goals and pair of assists in 29 games with 26 starts..

In his MLS career, LaBrocca has captured 15 goals in 152 regular-season matches with 141 starts.

At Rutgers, LaBrocca finished his career with 10 goals and eight assists for 28 points and missed just one start in 78 career games. In 2006, he started all 19 of RU's games and scored three goals, including RU's lone goal against No. 24 Rhode Island in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. His play and outstanding leadership for the Scarlet Knights helped the team advance to the semifinals of the BIG EAST tournament and earn an at-large bid into the NCAA championships. LaBrocca was also named to the All-BIG EAST and the NSCAA All-Northeast Region's Second Teams.

Duka joins the Fire after being selected in the first round (eighth overall) of the 2010 MLS SuperDraft by the Columbus Crew and made his MLS debut Aug. 14, 2010 when he entered the match in the 75th minute of a 2-0 loss to Real Salt Lake. In three seasons, Duka, a member of the U.S. squad for the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt, scored two goals and tallied five assists in 45 matches.

As a Scarlet Knight, Duka led the team in scoring and was a 2008 All-BIG EAST selection. An outstanding talent on the pitch, he led Rutgers with eight goals, adding an assist in 2008. For his career, he played in 36 games, making 35 starts, and scored 10 goals along with five assists.
