PISCATWAY, N.J. (November 30, 2012) – Midfield Mael Corboz (Green Brook, N.J.) was named Second Team All-Freshman by College Soccer News it was announced Friday.
Corboz, a Second Team All-BIG EAST and All-BIG EAST Rookie honoree, started all 14 contests for the Scarlet Knights and was the second leading RU scorer with three goals and a team-leading seven assists.
The freshman Scarlet Knights’ seven assists in 2012 were the most by a Scarlet Knight in a season since 2001. His seven assists also placed him in a tie for 17th all-time in the single season record books. Additionally, Carboz’s four game-winners on the year put his name in a tie for seventh all-time in the record books.
Corboz tied for sixth in the BIG EAST in assists (7). He was second in assists per game and ranked 22nd nationall averaging .47 per contest. Corboz was honored by the league with BIG EAST Rookie of the Week honorees after notching two goals in the Scarlet Knights’ 2-0 win over Princeton.
