The Scarlet Knights are coming off a 2-1 win against Central Connecticut State this past Wednesday. The two squads played to a scoreless first half with Rutgers breaking things open in the second period with back-to-back scores. Freshman defender Mitchell Taintor (Storrs, Conn.) struck first, scoring in the 49th minute, while junior forward Kene Eze (Sayreville, N.J.) added a goal in the 57th minute. CCSU put one on the scoreboard in the 62nd minute, however, RU was able to hold on for the win.

Taintor and Eze are tied with freshman midfielder Mael Corboz (Green Brook, N.J.) for the team lead with two goals apiece. Corboz also has a team-best two assists. Senior goalkeeper Kevin McMullen (Blackwood, N.J.) has started all seven games in goal, posting three shutouts and a 0.85 goals against average. He has made 31 saves on the season for a .838 save percentage.

The Cardinals enter the game with an overall record of 5-3-0 and a league record of 1-0-0. Last week the Cardinals finished with two wins, including a 2-1 defeat of No. 4 Notre Dame. Senior Greg Cochrane leads the team in scoring with three goals and one assist for seven points. Junior Dylan Mares ranks second on the team with two goals and two assists for six points.
