PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers University earned a bid to the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship, the NCAA announced on Monday. The 18th-ranked Scarlet Knights (10-6-4) will host Patriot League Champion Lafayette College (11-5-3) in the opening round on Saturday at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, NJ. A time has yet to be determined.

VERNON, CT – Rutgers senior Josh Gros (Mechanicsburg, PA) was named the BIG EAST Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Year, the league announced at its awards banquet on Thursday evening in Vernon, CT. Gros joins two other Scarlet Knights who were honored by the conference. Junior Chris Karcz (Clifton, NJ) was an All-BIG EAST Second Team selection and junior Richi Arenas (Guatemala City, Guatemala) was an All-BIG EAST Third Team pick. Voting was conducted among the leagues 13 head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own players.

NORTHRIDGE, CA – In the first meeting ever between the two schools, Cal State Northridge defeated the Rutgers men’s soccer team, 2-1, on Sunday at Matador Soccer Field in Northridge, CA. With the loss, the Scarlet Knights end their regular season 9-6-3.
