PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Rutgers lightweight crew began the spring season with a win in the varsity-eight race for the Lev Brett Cup March 29 on the Schuykill River.
Rutgers, ranked 10th in the USRowing Preseason Collegiate Men’s Lightweight Eight Coaches Poll, won the varsity race with a time of 6:03.4, edging out eighth-ranked Penn (6:10.6). The RU novice men finished second to host Penn in the other race with a time of 6:13.6.
The Scarlet Knights will next be in action Saturday, April 5, when Rutgers takes on Columbia for the Wit Cup on the Harlem River.
