BOSTON, MA – In a very close race, the Rutgers men’s heavyweight varsity eight team placed second in the Bill Cup race at the Charles River in Boston, MA. The race has been an annual event between Rutgers, Dartmouth and Boston University since 1942.
The varsity team of Christopher Graves (Northfield, NJ), Todd Gentry (Sicklerville, NJ), Nathan Carter (Springfield, VA), Collin Jesberger (Chalfont, PA), Michael Dori (West Windsor, NJ), Fred Bidrawn (Mt. Holly, NJ), Samuel Stitt (McLean, VA), James Green (Erdenheim, PA) and Ned Delguercio (Media, PA) finished with the time of (5:58.39) just behind Dartmouth’s (5:56.16) . Boston University came in third with the time of 6:00.40.
“It was a great race and very close all the way down the stretch,” Rutgers heavyweight head coach Steve Wagner said.
The Rutgers’ second varsity team (6:07.1) gave Rutgers its only first place finish of the afternoon, while the Rutgers varsity four team had a second place finish with a time of (7:06.29)
The Rutgers crew team will be back in action on Sunday as they face Connecticut at the Raritan River.
