NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - The Rutgers women’s varsity crew team opened its season with a win over George Washington on the Raritan River on March 27.
The varsity squad (6:31.4) beat out the Colonials (6:36.5) to register its first victory of the season.
“The team rowed very well and very aggressively today,” Rutgers women’s head coach Max Borghard said. “It was a great start for the opening day of the season.”
Rutgers’ second varsity team (6:34.3) was also victorious today, defeating George Washington’s second varsity (6:46.5) as well as Rutgers’ other second varsity boat (6:52.4).
In novice action, George Washington took first (6:49.9) and second (7:06.9), while the Scarlet Knights’ novice boat took third (7:15.2).
The women’s team will next race on Saturday, April 3, against Columbia and Princeton on Lake Carnegie.
