PISCATAWAY, N.J. (May 3, 2014) – The Rutgers rowing team will receive its final tune-up of the regular season on Sunday, May 4, when the Scarlet Knights travel to Cherry Hill, New Jersey to compete in the Eastern Sprints on the Cooper River.
Rutgers swept the competition in its final race this season on the Raritan River on Sunday April 27, defeating Holy Cross in the First, Second and Third Varsity 8 races and taking first and second place in the Varsity 4 event.
RU will get its day started on the Cooper River at 8:10 a.m. with its Third Varsity 8 taking on Boston University, Columbia, Georgetown and Buffalo. The top two boats will advance to the grand finals, scheduled for 1:45 p.m.
The Scarlet Knights’ First Varsity 8 will compete at 8:20 a.m. and also face Boston University, Columbia, Georgetown and Buffalo, with the top two advancing to the petite finals, set for 2:50 p.m.
The Second Varsity 8 will follow at 8:50 a.m. and face off against Holy Cross, Georgetown, Navy and Northeastern looking to secure one of two spots for the petite finals at 2:25 p.m.
RU’s Varsity 4A will take on Holy Cross, Boston College, Northeastern and M.I.T. at 9:10 a.m. aiming to secure a spot in the petite finals, set for 2 p.m.
The Scarlet Knights’ Varsity 4B will race in the grand finals against Georgetown, Navy, Boston College and Buffalo at 1:30 p.m.
Following the day of racing, RU will compete in the American Athletic Conference Championships, set for Sunday, May 18 in West Windsor, New Jersey.
