The Scarlet Knight men’s Varsity Eight finished second of 16 teams, its best-ever finish at the Navy Day Regatta. Navy won the event with a time of 12:04.8, followed by the Scarlet Knights (12:13.9) and Temple (12:19.5).
The women’s Varsity Eight placed fifth of 11 schools with a time of 14:12. Penn won the event (13:43), followed by Army (13:49), West Virginia (13:53) and Lehigh (13:53.4).
Rutgers won the second women’s Varsity race, finishing first of eight boats. The Scarlet Knights posted a time of 14:21.6, edging out second-place Navy (14:28.6).
The RU women’s Four was third of 20 boats, finishing behind Penn and West Virginia. The Scarlet Knight men’s Four placed fifth of 16 schools.
The Scarlet Knights next will be in competition at the Head of the Charles Regatta Sunday, Oct. 20, in Boston, MA.
