Rutgers Rowing Readies for BIG EAST Championship
West Windsor, N.J. (May 11, 2012) – Rutgers rowing will compete against eight league opponents on Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J. for the 2012 BIG EAST Rowing Championship on Sunday, May 13. Preliminary races will begin at 8 a.m., with the first final to start at 11 a.m.
The regatta marks the eighth annual BIG EAST Rowing Championship, but the 12th time the conference will crown a champion. Notre Dame has claimed each of the last eight titles dating back to 2004.
Last season, the Scarlet Knights finished fourth overall in the fastest varsity eight grand final since the inception of the Championships. It marked the closest margins between the top six in the history of the event.
RU last competed at the BIG EAST Double Duel on April 28 in Indianapolis, Ind. The first varsity eight finished second in the petite finals with a time of 7:15.4.
