Piscataway, N.J. (April 10, 2012) - The Rutgers rowing team will travel to South Jersey this weekend to compete in the 2012 Knecht Cup Regatta. The Scarlet Knights will face off against 60-plus schools from across the nation on Saturday, April 14 in Camden, N.J.
Last year, RU’s first varsity eight earned a second-place finish in the grand final with a time of 6:47.6. Rutgers finished behind Grand Valley, who took the lead in the last 500m.
The Scarlet Knights last took on Boston University, No. 16 Cornell and Syracuse at the Kittell Cayuga Combo in Syracuse, N.Y. The second varsity eight boat finished second behind BU with a time of 7:33.2.
Last week, the 1V lineup consisted of Katie Quinn (coxswain), Stephanie Ford, Raelyn Loiselle, Kat Geithman, Katie Bakaj, Kathleen Lai, Laura Ford, Kara Trivolis and Jenelle Scheffler.
The second V8 lineup was Ellie Kleiman (coxswain), Emily Nowlin, Amanda Baydar, Brittany Somers, Emilia Topp, Veronica Leach, Andrea Samulewski, Fran Carrone and Joanna Witynska.
The V4 lineup consisted of: Alex Zebrowski (coxswain), Katelyn Meyler, Gabby Oliviera, Morgan Knigge and Julia Dawidowicz.
