PISCATAWAY, N.J. (May 4, 2011) – Rutgers rowers Janine Ford and Katherine Geithman were named to the BIG EAST All-Conference team, the conference announced Sunday, May 1, following the championship regatta.
Ford, a double-major in Sociology and Criminal Justice from Nutley, N.J., was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team. Geithman, a double-major in Political Science and Psychology from Falls Church, Va., was named to the second team.
Geithman and Ford sit stroke and seven-seat, respectively, in the first varsity eight that finished fourth at the championship.
“My selection to the BIG EAST team was such an honor,” said Geithman. “This season has been all about the fun of racing, and with the great race the 1V put together for BIG EAST, I’m excited to see what we can produce for our last regatta of the season. We have a lot of momentum to build on and a great positive energy as we move into the two final weeks.”
“My teammates and I have worked diligently all year,” said Ford. “Earning BIG EAST Boat of the Week after winning the varsity eight at the Murphy Cup set the pace for our season. The race we put together today was one of the best races our boat has had. Being named to the BIG EAST First Team is an honor. I was thrilled that my family and friends were there to share that special moment with me.”
