PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers University’s Coordinator of Athletic Training Services Don Kessler, a 17-year member of the department, has been chosen to assist the United States Olympic Committee medical team at the World University Games in Daegu, South Korea from August 21-31. Kessler’s primary charge is to provide medical coverage at the clinic, while also working closely with the water polo team, one of 10 that will represent the United States at the Games.
Kessler has worked extensively with United States teams in international competition, having served as the athletic trainer for several US soccer teams and working with the World Cup in 1994. He most recently served as a volunteer at the USOC training site in Colorado Springs his past May, and worked with the US Rowing Team – a team he has supported in each of the last three years – at the World Rowing Championships in Milan, Italy this summer.
Kessler is hoping to be among those selected to with the United States’ athletes during the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.
