  • PISCATAWAY, N.J. (June 26, 2014) – The Rutgers University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics today announced Senior Associate Athletic Director Jason Baum will add the title Chief Communications Officer to his title, as well as the promotions of Kevin Lorincz to Assistant Athletic Director of Athletic Communications, Kimberly Zivkovich to Director of Athletic Communications and Jimmy Gill to Associate Director of Athletic Communications.

Baum, a member of the senior staff, will continue to oversee the members of the Office of Athletic Communications, as well as serve as the department’s primary spokesman and primary media contact for the football program.  He will also continue to direct the department’s official athletics website ScarletKnights.com, the online digital network of Rutgers Athletics (RVision) and all broadcast opportunities (television, radio and Internet) for the athletic department.

Since arriving at Rutgers, Baum has successfully promoted 17 student-athletes who earned football All-America honors, including Ray Rice, who finished seventh in the Heisman Trophy voting in 2006 and was a finalist for the Maxwell Award. He has been the primary football media contact for two national coaches of the year – Greg Schiano at Rutgers in 2006 and George O’Leary at the University of Central Florida in 2005.

Lorincz will continue to serve as the primary media contact for the Rutgers men’s basketball and men’s and women’s golf programs. Prior to arriving “On The Banks,” Lorincz spent eight years at Temple University in Philadelphia, initially serving as an assistant director from 1997 to 1999 before returning as associate director from 2001 to 2007. He worked seven seasons as the primary contact for football, including four as a member of the BIG EAST, while also working seasons as the contact for both men’s and women’s basketball. A 1995 graduate of the University of New Orleans, Lorincz began his career in the sports industry as an intern in the sports department at WVUE-TV in New Orleans and also worked as an intern in the Philadelphia Eagles Department of Public Relations.

Zivkovich will continue her role as the primary media contact men’s soccer, men’s and women’s track & field and cross country teams, as well as RU’s women’s basketball program, which is coming off a 2014 WNIT Championship. A 1999 Rutgers graduate, Zivkovich returned to her alma mater after spending 11 years at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, where she worked with the nationally-ranked and 17-time conference championship women’s basketball team, including runs to the 2002 Elite Eight and 2008 Sweet 16, and directed media efforts for the start-up football program. She began her athletic communications career as a student assistant “On the Banks” and also spent time as the Sports Information Director at Marist College.

Gill will continue his efforts as the primary contact for baseball and gymnastics and serve as the secondary media contact for football. Prior to rejoining the Rutgers Athletic Communications Staff in January of 2013, he was an Assistant Communications Director at the University of Miami, where he worked with football, volleyball, track & field and rowing. Gill spent the 2011-12 academic year at Rutgers as the Athletic Communications Assistant working with volleyball, women’s tennis, gymnastics and baseball, successfully promoting the BIG EAST Player of the Year for baseball, Patrick Kivlehan. He was also a graduate assistant in the UM communications office, helping with all aspects of the office while functioning as the primary women's golf contact. A 2010 graduate of Swarthmore College, Gill started as a student in the Garnet Athletic Communications Office and went on to earn a master’s degree in Sports Administration at UM.
