PISCATAWAY, N.J. (January 21, 2013) – Rutgers Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Tim Pernetti announced Tuesday the hiring of Geoff Brown as Senior Associate Athletic Director/Chief Marketing Officer for Rutgers Athletics. Brown comes to Rutgers after a 19-year stint in minor league baseball, including the past 13 years as general manager of the Lakewood BlueClaws, single A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies.

We look forward to bringing his powerful track record to Rutgers.”
In his role with Rutgers, Brown will manage and supervise the external operations related to revenue generation within the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics. This includes any and all revenue-related functions of the departments, ticketing and marketing. Brown will serve as the liaison for the Division’s corporate sales and media rights holder, and is responsible for establishing a strong affinity with external constituents, enhancing customer service capabilities and performance, and increasing revenue.

During his tenure with the Lakewood BlueClaws, Brown was responsible for development of the team’s business plan, day-to-day operations, P&L, marketing budget, revenue forecasts and team vision for a team that led the league in attendance in each year of their existence.
The first employee of the BlueClaws, Brown was in charge of all revenue generating functions including sponsorship sales, business development, strategic alliances and marketing partnerships.
Brown was a three-time General Manager of the Year in the South Atlantic League, and under his leadership, the BlueClaws were recognized by the South Atlantic League four times as the winner of the Club Merit Award for excellence in overall operations.
Brown and his wife Suzanne live in Manasquan with their son Jake and daughter Emma.
