PISCATAWAY, N.J. (October 25, 2012) – The Rutgers University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics today announced that Kimberly Zivkovich has been named Associate Director of Athletic Communications. Zivkovich will serve as the primary media contact for the RU women’s basketball, men’s soccer, men’s and women’s track & field and cross country.
A native of Wyckoff, N.J., Zivkovich most recently served as Associate Director of Athletic Communications at Old Dominion University. She was responsible for directing all media relations efforts for the start-up ODU football program, which is currently ranked No. 6 nationally in the FCS poll. She spearheaded the department’s social media efforts, while also serving as an adjunct instructor for sports media and public relations.
Zivkovich initially arrived in Norfolk in 2001, as assistant director of athletic communications and primary contact media contact for ODU’s nationally-ranked women’s basketball team. During her 11-year tenure, she worked as the primary women’s basketball contact for eight seasons under head coach Wendy Larry. In those eight seasons, the Lady Monarchs won seven CAA titles and made seven NCAA tournament appearances, including advancement to the 2002 Elite Eight and 2008 Sweet Sixteen.
A December 1999 graduate of Rutgers with a bachelor’s degree communication, Zivkovich began her athletic communications career as a student assistant “On the Banks.” After graduation, she moved on to Marist College, where she served as Sports Information Director from January 2000 through August 2001.
Zivkovich earned a M.Ed. in Education - Sport Management from Old Dominion in August 2010.
