Scarlet Knights run final race before BIG EAST Championships

  • PRINCETON, N.J. — (October 14, 2012) – The Rutgers men’s and women’s cross-country teams took part in the Princeton Invitational Saturday in Princeton, where the men placed 15th out of 24 teams and the women placed 22nd out of 25 teams. The meet was RU’s final tune-up before the BIG EAST Championships on Friday, Oct. 22.

    Leading the charge for the men’s squad was sophomore Chris Banafato (Bridgewater, N.J.), who finished 21st after completing the 8K course in 24:50. Freshman Chris Defabio (Millington, N.J.) finished behind Banafato in 66th place (25:23), as sophomore Curtis Richburg (West Orange, N.J.) rounded out the top-three for the Scarlet Knights with an 86th-place finish (25:34). MEN’S RESULTS

    Sophomore Rashmi Singh (Flemington, N.J.) paced RU on the women’s side, running the 5K race in 23:06 for 73rd place. Behind her were freshmen Paige Senatore (Newfield, N.J.) and Felicia O’Donnell (Franklinville, N.J.), who finished 93rd (23:28) and 107th (23:34, respectively.  WOMEN’S RESULTS

    Both teams will train for the next two weeks before competing in the BIG EAST Championships in the Bronx, N.Y. on Friday, Oct. 22.
