PISCATAWAY, N.J. (September 20, 2012) – The Rutgers University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics today announced that Andrew Robinson has been named Director of Branding and Social Media. In the position, Robinson will oversee the social media, web and video strategies of RU football and men’s and women’s basketball, while maintaining the brand identity of those programs in regards to promotions, marketing and recruiting.
A native of Berkeley Heights, N.J., Robinson will work closely with the athletic communications office, marketing, ticket sales, development and sponsorship to ensure a cohesive message for the Scarlet Knights. He will also oversee the production of in-stadium broadcasts to enhance the overall gameday experience for fans.
Robinson has established relationships “On the Banks” and in the New York metropolitan area. He initially served as operations assistant for the Rutgers football program from May 2007 to January 2008 before being promoted to assistant director of recruiting from January 2008 through October 2009. In the position, he oversaw the day-to-day recruiting operations for the Scarlet Knights.
Robinson moved on to MSG Varsity/Cablevision, Inc., initially serving as an outreach coordinator before being promoted to partnership manager in January 2010. As partnership manager, he managed relationships with forty high schools in Cablevision’s three million household footprint, while assisting in content creation and overall brand management of the network.
A 2007 graduate of Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in policy studies and political science, Robinson resides in Piscataway.
