PISCATAWAY, NJ – Chelsea Newton (Monroe, LA) scored a season-high 19 points to lead four players in double figures as the Rutgers women’s basketball (5-4) team cruised past Old Dominion (6-4), 69-45, on Sunday at the Louis Brown Athletic Center.

EL PASO, TX – The Rutgers men’s basketball team saw its five-game win streak come to an end, falling to the University of Texas El Paso (UTEP), 94-68, in the championship game of the Sierra Providence SunClassic on Sunday night at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, TX. The loss is the second of the season for the Scarlet Knights (7-2), while UTEP improves to 9-1.

December-27-03 Rutgers Defeats Northwestern, 80-75, to Advance to SunClassic Championship Game
EL PASO, TX – Senior Herve Lamizana (Abidgan, Ivory Coast, Africa) continued his all-around consistent play, scoring 21 points, pulling down 15 rebounds and blocking eight shots to lead Rutgers to an 80-75 victory over Northwestern in the opening round of the Sierra Providence SunClassic Basketball Tournament on Saturday. With the win, Rutgers (7-1) moves on to face Texas-El Paso (8-1), an 84-63 semifinal winner over Mississippi Valley St., in Sunday's championship game.
