February-22-04 Women Finish Second, Men Fourth at BIG EAST Swimming Championships
EAST MEADOW, NY - For the second consecutive year, the Rutgers women’s swimming and diving team finished second at the BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships, which were held this year at the Nassau County Aquatics Center. The Scarlet Knights won a total of five events this year, and following the meet Rutgers’ seventh-year head coach Chuck Warner was named Women’s Swimming Coach of the Year for the second year in a row and third time in his tenure.

February-22-04 RU Softball Tops LIU
BOCA RATON, FL - For the second time in three days, Rutgers (2-3) defeated LIU (1-4) at the FAU Tournament on the campus of Florida Atlantic University. The 4-2 victory allowed the Scarlet Knights to move into the third-place game of the tournament against Eastern Michigan at 11:00 a.m. today, Feb. 22.

February-22-04 Cech, Hartwig Honored at Annual Field Hockey Banquet
PISCATAWAY, NJ – Megan Cech (Moorestown, NJ) and Erica Hartwig (Shawnee, NJ) shared Offensive Player of the Year honors as the Rutgers field hockey team held its annual postseason awards banquet on Saturday evening, February 21.

February-22-04 Rutgers Falls at Boston College 76-44
CHESTNUT HILL, MA – In a pivotal BIG EAST men’s basketball matchup, Boston College used a 23-2 run in the second-half to defeat Rutgers, 76-44, before a sellout crowd of 8,606 at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, MA Sunday . The loss snaps a two-game winning streak for the Scarlet Knights, who fall to 15-9 overall and 6-7 in the conference. BC improves to 18-8, 7-6 BIG EAST.

February-22-04 W&M Takes Series Finale, 13-11
WILLIAMSBURG, VA - With the game tied at 11-11 in the bottom of the eighth, John Lentz drilled a tie-breaking, RBI triple and Chris Rahl followed with a run-scoring single against RU reliever OJ DeChristofano (Pompton Plains, NJ) to lift William & Mary to a 13-11 win over Rutgers in the series finale this afternoon.

February-22-04 RU Softball Defeats Eastern Michigan in Extra Innings, 8-6
BOCA RATON, FL - Rutgers (3-3) won an eleven-inning marathon over Eastern Michigan (2-3) to finish in third place at the FAU Tournament in Boca Raton, FL, on Feb. 22.

February-22-04 RU Gymnastics Takes Second at UNC Quad Meet
CHAPEL HILL, NC - Senior Lisa Abrams (Mt. Ephraim, NJ) finished with a team-best 9.850 on balance beam to help Rutgers earn a second-place finish in a quad meet between North Carolina, Rutgers, Towson and William and Mary.

SYRACUSE, NY - The Rutgers men’s indoor track and field team scored 79 points to finish in fourth place while the women had 28 points to finish in ninth place at the BIG EAST Indoor Track and Field Championships, held Feb. 21-22, at the Carrier Dome.
