PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers men’s lacrosse team has received a Top 10-ranking in two national polls released today. The Scarlet Knights are No. 6 in the Inside Lacrosse media poll and No. 8 in the USILA coaches poll.

PISCATAWAY, NJ - Junior All-American Cappie Pondexter (Chicago, IL) scored 20 points as Rutgers (17-10, 9-6 BIG EAST) strengthened it post-season resume with a 69-55 victory over Notre Dame (18-9, 11-4 BIG EAST) on Feb. 28 before 4,389 at the Louis Brown Athletic Center.

BROOKLANDVILLE, MD – Delby Powless (Hagersville, Ontario) and junior Leif Blomquist (Long Beach, NY) combined for five goals and three assists as the 14th-ranked Rutgers men’s lacrosse team (1-0) outlasted 20th-ranked Dartmouth, 13-9, in the season-opener for both team at St. Paul’s School in Brooklandville, MD.

February-28-04 Frazier, Parker Carry Rutgers Past ODU, 10-4
NORFOLK, VA – Junior Jeff Frazier (Toms River, NJ) was 2-for-5 with four RBI, including a game-sealing three-run home run in the eighth, and senior Shaun Parker (Mt. Holly, NJ) allowed just two earned runs in eight strong innings to lead Rutgers to its second-straight win over Old Dominion, 10-4, this afternoon at Methany Field.

February-28-04 RU’s Rally Falls Short In Women’s Lacrosse Season Opener
PISCATAWAY, NJ - The Rutgers women’s lacrosse team exploded for five goals in the final six minutes, but Northwestern scored the game-winning tally with 57 seconds remaining to squeak past the Scarlet Knights, 14-13, in the season opener on Saturday at the RU Stadium Complex.

February-28-04 RU Gymnasts Upset #25 Maryland in Quad Meet
PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers gymnastics team (13-4, 1-3 EAGL) rolled up 195.100 point and upset No. 25 Maryland in the process, taking first place in a quad meet held on Saturday evening, Feb. 28, at the Livingston Recreation Center.

February-27-04 Rutgers Soccer Standout Gros Signs With DC United of MLS
PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers senior Josh Gros (Mechanicsburg, PA) signed a professional contract on Thursday, Feb. 26, to play soccer with Major League Soccer’s DC United beginning with the upcoming 2004 season. The soccer standout signed a four-year contract with the club after spending the past three weeks training with the team.
