PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers gymnastics team (7-2, 1-2 EAGL) scored 190.750 points to claim the top spot in its first quad meet of the season. The quad meet included Pittsburgh, Brown University and Brockport State.

February-03-05 Gene Armstead Elected to Rutgers Basketball Hall of Fame
PISCATAWAY, NJ – Gene Armstead, a dominant 6-9 center for the Rutgers basketball team from 1970-73 and the first high school All-American to play basketball for the Scarlet Knights, has been elected to the Rutgers Men’s Basketball Hall of Fame.

The good news for Rutgers lacrosse fans entering the 2005 season is that the Scarlet Knights return six starters and 18 letterwinners from a team that won eight games and earned an at-large bid to last season's NCAA Tournament. PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers University head baseball coach Fred Hill has added two veteran coaches to his staff for the 2005 season in assistant coaches Rick Freeman and Jim Agnello. Freeman will work with the RU pitchers, while Agnello will tutor the team’s catchers and coach first base.

The 2005 Rutgers baseball team has something to prove. The last time the Rutgers baseball team failed to advance to the postseason (1984), nearly half of the current team was not even born. Despite winning 30 games in 2004 for the seventh-straight season, the Scarlet Knights dropped its final six BIG EAST games and finished fifth in the league standings, on the outside looking in at the four-team BIG EAST Baseball Championship. With 26 letterwinners returning, the Scarlet Knights seek to re-establish their rightful place among the conference and region's elite programs.

February-02-05 Rutgers Football Announces 2005 Recruiting Class
PISCATAWAY, NJ - Rutgers University head football coach Greg Schiano announced his 2005 recruiting class this afternoon during a press conference at the Hale Center. The 22-member class includes 10 student-athletes who competed scholastically in New Jersey, one junior college performer, six Florida standouts and two from New York and Canada and one from Pennsylvania. It is the fifth recruiting class for Schiano, who was named head coach on December 1, 2000.

February-02-05 Rider Tops Rutgers Wrestling, 34-7
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - Rutgers’ severely-depleted roster continued to limit the Scarlet Knights’ wrestling team as RU was forced to forfeit two matches in a 34-7 loss to Rider on Wednesday at the College Avenue Gymnasium in New Brunswick, NJ. The Scarlet Knights move to 5-6 on the season, while the Broncs improve to 9-5.
