PISCATAWAY, NJ – Aided by four straight set singles victories, the Rutgers women’s tennis team (8-9) won for the third time in four matches, knocking off visiting Lafayette 5-0 on Thursday at the RU Tennis Complex in Piscataway.

The win was also head coach Fred Hill’s 700th at Rutgers and runs his RU mark to 700-411-2 in 21+ seasons with the Scarlet Knights.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – With the game tied at 10-10 in the 10th inning, after Notre Dame scored five times in the ninth to tie the game and force extra innings, Johnny Defendis (Staten Island, NY) ripped a two-out single to score Ryan Hill (Hillsdale, NJ) as Rutgers beat Notre Dame, 11-10, to sweep a doubleheader this afternoon. In the opener, with RU trailing 3-1, senior Jason Grover (Montgomery, NJ) hit his first career grand slam to propel the Scarlet Knights to a 5-3 win.
