March-03-03 Rutgers Finishes Third at UNO's Classic
TEMPE, AZ - The Rutgers women's gymnastics team (12-10) finished third in the UNO's Classic, scoring a 193.125. Host Arizona State, ranked fourth in the nation, scored a 197.825, followed by the No. 25 California Golden Bears and their score of 196.100.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers field hockey’s Stacey Gaenzle (Lancaster, PA), Erica Hartwig (Medford, NJ) and Heather Graver (Vincetown, NJ) were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Academic Squad. To earn the award, student-athletes are nominated by their coaches after achieving a 3.30 cumulative GPA through the fall 2002 semester.

NASHVILLE, TN – Faced with the pressure of making his first collegiate start while also seeking to end Rutgers’ four-game, season-opening losing streak, sophomore Tom Malafronte (Somerville, NJ) passed the test with flying colors, allowing just one run over seven innings to lead Rutgers past Lipscomb, 6-1, today in Nashville. The RU offense added three home runs to build a 4-0 lead after three innings, highlighted by a two-run blast from Vinny Esposito (Middletown, NJ) in the first inning. With the win, RU returns home at 1-4.

March-01-03 Rutgers Remains Unbeaten With 3-0 Win Over Delaware
PISCATAWAY, NJ – A six goal first quarter propelled the Rutgers men’s lacrosse team (3-0) to an 11-6 victory over Delaware (1-2) today at the Rutgers Astroturf Field. This marks the first time since the 1984 season that Rutgers has started a season with three consecutive victories.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) -- Jerome Coleman broke out of a scoring slump with 27 points and Rutgers beat No. 9 Notre Dame (No. 10 EPSN/USA Today, No. 9 AP) 95-82 Saturday, its first win against a Top 10 team in over 20 years.

March-01-03 Walk-off Homerun Lifts MTSU Past Rutgers, 7-6
MURFREESBORO, TN – A solo shot leading off the bottom of the ninth by Josh Archer, his second home run of the game, snapped a 6-6 tie and gave Middle Tennessee State a 7-6 win over Rutgers this afternoon at Smith Field. The home run, on the second pitch of the inning, negated a spirited comeback in the top of the frame, when Rich Canuso (Monroe, NJ) delivered a two-out, two-run, two-strike single to tie the game at 6-6. With the loss, RU is now 0-4. It is also the second-straight one run loss for the Scarlet Knights, who fell to Vanderbilt, 3-2, in 12 innings on Friday.

PROVIDENCE, RI -- The Rutgers women’s tennis team (3-5, 1-2 BIG EAST) fell to Brown on Saturday afternoon, 6-1. The Scarlet Knights surrendered all three doubles points and five of six singles matches in the loss.
