October-13-04 Rutgers Athletics Announces Annual Award Winners
PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced this year’s recipients for the David L. Coursen and Headley-Singer Awards, given annually to the top male and female student athletes, respectively, as well as the Sonny A. Werblin Award, which honors those student-athletes who received national attention for their efforts. All student-athletes will be honored at halftime of this Saturday’s Rutgers-Temple football game.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers women’s lacrosse head coach Laura Brand has announced the team’s challenging 16-game schedule for the 2005 season. The Scarlet Knights will play a total of nine home contests in 2005, highlighted by a three-game homestand from March 23 through March 28.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers men’s soccer team scored two goals in the final 20 minutes of play, but a goal by Georgetown’s Jeff Curtin in the 74th minute sealed the 3-2 victory for the Hoyas Wednesday night in front of 1,004 fans at Yurcak Field.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers quarterback Ryan Hart (Coral Springs, FL) has been named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 10. Hart earns the award following a 37-34 win at Vanderbilt – a game in which Hart completed 31-of-40 passes for 344 yards and two touchdowns - leading the Scarlet Knights to the biggest comeback in school history.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers sophomore goalkeeper Lubos Ancin (Burlington, NJ) was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week on Monday, the online publication announced. Ancin is recognized as the nation’s top goalkeeper for the week ending Oct. 10.
