June-12-05 Carson, USA Golden at International Sports Invitational
PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers’ Essence Carson (Paterson, NJ) and the USA Basketball Junior National Team defeated Russia 73-57 in the gold-medal game of the International Sports Invitational June 11 at San Diego State University. At the conclusion of the tournament, Carson was named one of 12 members of the U.S. Under-19 World Championship Team, which will compete in Tunisia in July.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers’ Essence Carson (Paterson, NJ) and the USA Basketball Junior National Team defeated China 88-50 in the third round of the International Sports Invitational June 10 at San Diego State University.

SACRAMENTO, CA – Seniors Sam Segond (East Stroudsburg, PA) and Marquis Allen (Mays Landing, NJ) earned All-America status at the 2005 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, at the Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex in Sacramento, CA.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers’ Essence Carson (Paterson, NJ) and the USA Basketball Junior National Team put together a late run to defeat Australia 82-74 in the second round of the International Sports Invitational June 9 at San Diego State University.

June-10-05 Segond Sets Sights on Third All-American Honors
SACRAMENTO, CA – Senior Sam Segond (East Stroudsburg, PA) won his qualifying flight and advanced to the finals of the men’s discus at the 2005 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Segond will compete in the championship round on Saturday, June 11 at the event, which will be held at the Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex in Sacramento, CA.

The Rutgers heavyweight and lightweight crews capped another successful spring season with a trip to the 2005 Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championships June 2-4.
