April-11-05 Roy Receives Third-Straight MVP Honor at Rutgers Wrestling Awards Banquet
PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers University wrestling team held its annual awards banquet on Monday night, April 11, at the Hale Center on the school’s Busch Campus. The team posted a 6-8 record in 2004-05 despite being riddled with injuries to several starters throughout the season. The Scarlet Knights sent a pair of wrestlers to the NCAA Championships in St. Louis, MO.

April-10-05 WVU Rallies Past Rutgers, 6-4, in Series Finale
MORGANTOWN, WV – Rutgers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning, but was shut down the rest of the way by WVU freshman Ryan Hill as the Mountaineers rallied for a 6-4 win this afternoon in the series finale at Hawley Field. Hill, who entered the game with a 7.02 ERA, shut down the Scarlet Knights for 7.1 innings, while wild pitches and a trio of costly errors doomed the Scarlet Knights.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – The Rutgers University Men’s Basketball program held its Annual Awards Banquet at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in New Brunswick on Sunday, April 10. The event was co-sponsored by the Court Club and the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics.

WASHINGTON, DC – The Rutgers women’s tennis team (10-9, 5-2 BIG EAST) finished off an impressive weekend sweep of conference foes with a 5-2 victory over Georgetown on Sunday in Washington, DC. The Scarlet Knights have now won five of their last six matches, including victories over Villanova and Georgetown in a span of 24 hours.

April-10-05 Crosby Pitches RU Softball to Split With Connecticut
STORRS, CT – An outstanding pitching performance from sophomore Jessica Crosby (Sedro-Woolley, WA) helped the Rutgers softball team (1-27, 1-5 BIG EAST) pick up its first victory of the season, as the Scarlet Knights split a doubleheader with the University of Connecticut Huskies on Sunday, April 10, at the UConn Softball Field in Storrs, CT. RU won game one by a score of 2-1 and fell in game two 5-0.

April-10-05 Women’s Golf Closes Season With 15th-Place Finish at JMU Tournament
HARRISONBURG, VA - The Rutgers women’s golf ended their spring season with a 999 (332-337-330) to finish 15th at the Bonnie Hoover Invitational on Sunday at the 6,046-yard, par-72 Lakeview Golf Club in Harrisonburg, VA.

April-10-05 Pittman Leads Rutgers Men’s Golf to Sixth Place at Princeton Invitational
PRINCETON, NJ – The Rutgers men’s golf team fired an 898 (301-295-302) to place sixth out of 17 schools at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday.

PROVIDENCE, RI – The Rutgers University softball team (0-26, 0-4 BIG EAST) fell in its doubleheader against BIG EAST opponent, Providence College by scores of 1-0 and 6-0 on Saturday, April 9, at Raymond Field in Providence, RI.

April-09-05 Checcio, Rodgers Lead Rutgers to First Win Over Princeton Since 1989
PISCATAWAY, NJ – A pair of goals from sophomore Colin Checcio (Wayne, PA) and junior Austin Rodgers (Towson, MD) helped the Rutgers men’s lacrosse team (4-5) erase 16 years of frustration against Princeton (1-6). The duo combined for four goals and one assist as Rutgers knocked off the Tigers, 8-5, before 1,854 at Yurcak Field on Saturday.
