Rutgers was one of 9 teams to gain an at-large bid into the field. | |

UMass is the highest ranked team Rutgers has defeated since beating No. 3 Syracuse in 1998. The 10 wins are the most for the program since the 1990 season, when RU went 10-5 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. | |

In the opener, Jack Egbert (Rutherford, NJ) won his seventh-straight game and improved to 6-0 in the BIG EAST with another strong outing, but in the nightcap, a costly fielding error ended RU’s bid for a 14th-straight win. | |
