PISCATAWAY, NJ – Junior Jim Jansen (Hillsdale, NJ) hurled eight strong innings, allowing just three runs, to pick up his team-leading fifth victory and classmate Steve Hook (Langhorne, PA) drove in four runs, including his third home run in as many games, as Rutgers (26-18) defeated Delaware (21-26), 14-4, this afternoon. RU scored multiple runs in each of the first five innings on the way to its third-straight win, while senior Cory Rodriguez (Bridgewater, NJ) collected two hits to extend his streak to 18 games.

May-11-05 Rutgers Women’s Basketball Team to be Honored by State Legislators
PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers University women’s basketball program is scheduled to be presented Ceremonial Resolutions by both houses of the New Jersey state legislature in recognition of the team’s outstanding accomplishments during the 2004-2005 season. The New Jersey Senate will acknowledge the Scarlet Knights May 12, and the New Jersey Assembly will offer its recognition May 16 as a part of the annual “Rutgers Day in Trenton” event.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers’ Cappie Pondexter (Chicago, IL) and Essence Carson (Paterson, NJ) have been invited to the 2005 USA Basketball Women’s National Team Trials May 19-22. Following the trials, finalists will be named for the 12-member USA Women’s Under-19 World Championship Team as well as the 12-member USA World University Games Team.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers University sophomore Katie Batiuk (Jackson, NJ) was named the BIG EAST Women’s Lacrosse Midfielder of the Year, the league announced on Tuesday. She was one of four Scarlet Knights to receive postseason honors.

May-09-05 2004-05 Season Review
Head coach John Sacchi completed his 15th season “On the Banks” with his signature 150th victory at the helm of a program he has taken to prominence on the national scene throughout his tenure with the Scarlet Knights. The 2004-05 Rutgers wrestling team was once again represented with multiple Scarlet Knights earning bids to the NCAA Wrestling Championships, including senior Andy Roy’s unmatched fourth appearance in the NCAA Championships.
