May-23-05 BIG EAST Announces Women’s Basketball Home/Away Schedule
PROVIDENCE, RI – The BIG EAST Conference has announced the home/away opponents for the 2005-2006 women’s basketball season. Each team will play a 16-game schedule, playing one opponent in a home-and-home series, while facing each of the 14 other league members once (either home or away). The schedule results in eight home games and eight road contests for each BIG EAST member.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Seton Hall freshman Dan McDonald took a no-hitter into the seventh inning as the Pirates beat Rutgers, 8-1, in the season finale for both teams. Rutgers finishes the 2005 season with a 32-21 overall record, including a 12-12 mark in BE play.

May-22-05 Pondexter, Carson Finalists for USA Basketball Teams
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Rutgers’ Cappie Pondexter (Chicago, IL) and Essence Carson (Paterson, NJ) have been named finalists for two USA Basketball Teams set to compete internationally this summer. Pondexter is one of 16 finalists for the USA World University Games Team, while Carson is one of 15 finalists for the USA Under-19 World Championship Team.

May-21-05 Rutgers Baseball Splits Doubleheader with Seton Hall
PISCATAWAY, NJ – Back-to-back home runs from Dave Williams (Franklin Twp., NJ) and Steve Hook (Langhorne, PA) lifted Rutgers to an 8-4 win in the opener, as Rutgers (32-20, 12-11 BIG EAST) split a doubleheader today with Seton Hall, which rallied for eight runs over the final two innings to win the second game, 10-4. Unfortunately for Rutgers, Notre Dame completed its series sweep of West Virginia with a 7-3 win, thus clinching the fourth and final spot in the BIG EAST Tournament.

May-21-05 Rutgers Finishes 25th at NCAA East Regionals
KINGSTON SPRINGS, TN – The Rutgers men’s golf team shot a 310 on Saturday to finish with a three-round score of 906 (+54) (306-290-310) to place 25th out of 27 schools at the NCAA East Regional in Kingston Springs, TN, near Nashville. The Scarlet Knights, who reached the NCAA Regionals for the first time in 21 years, end one of their most successful seasons in recent memory.
