June-08-05 OF's Williams and Defendis Selected in MLB Draft
PISCATAWAY, NJ – Redshirt sophomore David Williams (Franklin Twp., NJ) and junior Johnny Defendis (Staten Island, NY) were selected on the second day of the 2005 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft. Williams was taken in the 25th round (741 overall) by the Arizona Diamondbacks, while Defendis was taken 880th overall in the 29th round by the Chicago Cubs.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers’ Essence Carson (Paterson, NJ) and the USA Basketball Junior National Team defeated Russia 89-69 in the first round of the International Sports Invitational June 8 at San Diego State University.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers women’s assistant track and field coach James Robinson was named the 2005 East Region Sprints/Hurdles Assistant Coach of the Year, it was announced by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers women’s soccer program has released its schedule for the 2005 season. The Scarlet Knights will play a total of 19 regular-season matches, including 12 at Rutgers’ Yurcak Field.
