PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's lacrosse will host one of nine HEADstrong college lacrosse events when it entertains Fairfield, Sienna and Wagner for scrimmages on Sunday, Oct. 15 at the F3 practice fields on Busch Campus in Piscataway, New Jersey.
A total of 41 NCAA men's and women's lacrosse programs will participate in HEADstrong's Fall Event Series. HEADstrong is a foundation dedicated to providing essential services to improve lives affected by cancer. Since 2006, HEADstrong has allocated more than $10.5 million dollars, which has impacted more than 14,000 families affected by the disease.
The Scarlet Knights' full 2017 fall schedule will be released at a later date.
The HEADstrong Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, with the blueprints for the Foundation conceptualized by Nicholas "HEAD" Colleluori in 2006 from his hospital bed while he underwent treatment for non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, which ultimately claimed his life. Today, Nick's vision is being fulfilled through the relentless efforts of his family, athletes and supporters across the country uniting in the fight against cancers.
Last season, RU used its game against Northwestern to help raise money and awareness for the HEADstrong Foundation. Rutgers wore green shoelaces and headbands during its matchup with the Wildcats to show its support for the organization.
