Filigno to be Honored by Canada Soccer

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - On Sunday, June 11, former Scarlet Knight Jonelle Filigno will be honored by Canada Soccer at the Women's National Team international match in Toronto. As part of the special celebration, Filigno will be one of five Olympic bronze medal winners recognized who are retiring from the international game.
A native of Mississauga, Ontario, Filigno earned a bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympic games, scoring the game winner in the quarterfinals against Great Britain. The forward was also a 2010 CONCACAF champion and helped secure a CONCACAF youth title in 2008. Overall, the two-time Canada U-20 Player of the Year (2008, 2010) saw action in two FIFA Women's World Cups and two Women's Olympic Football Tournaments.
As a Scarlet Knight, Filigno finished her career as one of the most accomplished players in school history. Her total of 17 game-winning goals remains a top the Rutgers' career record list. She also finished fourth with 33 goals and 79 points, and sixth with 187 shots. Filigno was a two-time NSCAA All-Region selection and three-time all-conference honoree.
Following her time "On the Banks," she went on to play professionally in the National Women's Soccer League for Sky Blue FC.
